This writing workshop includes a gentle stroll, during which you'll soak in fresh air and new ideas for writing time spent indoors. Our Sacred Connection to Animals and Nature
"My experience has been that the path we walk with nature and animals is a spiritual journey. Our greatest teachers can be right outside our door, pine trees, turtles, coyotes, deer, chipmunks, streams, stones and all the others with whom we share this planet. In our busy lives, we've simply forgotten how to tune in, how to quiet our minds and observe. During this workshop, we gather in a small group to start the process of slowing our thoughts, tuning into our own wild nature, listening to what the animals have to share with us, and begin to recapture our childhood wonder through guided journeys and various simple techniques. Animals are communicating with one another and with us all the time, they are just using their own language. On this day, we take the time to listen, absorb our environment, revel in the beauty and remember our sacred connection with nature and animals." One Kindred Paw About Dawn: Dawn Casteel-Lorick is a healer, animal communicator, musician, writer, animal advocate and consultant for people, helping animals to heal and helping humans form partnerships with their animal family members and reawaken our connections with animals in wild nature, using the intuitive, creative and healing arts to navigate the sometimes choppy waters of inter-species love and respect. This event is part of a 12 day festival called Compassion Arts Festival. Visit to see the entire festival schedule.

Gurdjieff and de Hartmann Concert "Long Ago" with Bert Lams and Fabio Mittino
An evening with ... Fabio Mittino and Bert Lams The music of Gurdjieff and de Hartmann 28 West Street in Petersham, MA For those who live within driving distance of Petersham, Massachusetts - if you do not please share with friends who may be interested in joining us for this concert of Gurdjieff / de Hartmann music. Thank you Petersham and the surrounding area has many B&B's to choose from, as well as Air B&B places. 7:30 PM gather together - cocktails, coffee, tea and snacks ... Concert at 8 PM We are asking for a donation to cover the cost of the event - a hat will be passed ... A bit about the concert: With the release of Long Ago, Italian guitarist Fabio Mittino and I are celebrating one of our most inspiring projects ever. Our friendship goes back to 1998: Robert Fripp introduced us during a music convention in London. A few years later we found ourselves traveling back and forth between Milan and the US for rehearsals and concerts, and excited to work on our new music project: transcriptions and arrangements of music by Gurdjieff/De Hartman, arranged for two guitars. Gurdjieff was a philosopher from Russian/Armenian descent. He had the remarkable gift of remembering music he had heard during his early travels in Asia and the Middle East. Many years later he sung and played the melodies to Russian composer Thomas De Hartmann; together they created over 300 pieces between 1918 and 1927. The music of Gurdjieff and De Hartmann may seem simple, with short pieces that lack any pretension to elaborate formal construction, yet it often turns in unexpected directions, revealing itself as powerful, fascinating and deeply affecting. In the final words of his book Our Life with Mr Gurdjieff, Thomas de Hartmann says: Listening to this music one was touched to the depth of his being We selected acoustic Gibson arch top guitars, built in the 1930s, to record Long Ago'. These vintage instruments help create the authentic and intimate character of the album. No effects were added to the recordings: when you listen, it is as if we are playing very close to you, in your living room. The music on Long Ago covers a vast territory: Armenian songs, Hindu melodies, Kurdish melodies, an Orthodox Hymn, and several Sayyid dances, most of it never been played on the guitar before. Arranging and discovering this music was like opening a treasure chest. We immensely enjoyed discovering these hidden gems and we feel that this wonderful music deserves to be heard and played. Links: Concert Schedule: It's official: Fabio and Bert will be doing a house concert tour on the East Coast in December to celebrate our recent CD "Long Ago'.
